Upcoming Ethnographic Film Workshop in Mayotte (May 2026)

The SOLROUTES project is pleased to announce the launch of a four‑day ethnographic film workshop titled “Filming the Everyday in Mayotte”, to be held at the University of Mayotte in May 2026.

A Workshop Combining Research and Creative Practice

The workshop will introduce participants to documentary filmmaking as both a research method and a narrative tool in the social sciences. Activities will include:

  • Viewing and discussing selected documentaries produced within the Laboratory of Visual Sociology and the SOLROUTES project.
  • Reflecting on the analytical and narrative potential of images in social research.
  • Guided exercises in filming and editing.
  • Collaborative cinematic co‑narration on themes chosen by participants.
