Summer School in Lampedusa: ParTeR and SOLROUTES Co‑organize a Programme on Border Studies
The University of Parma, together with the ERC Advanced Project SOLROUTES (University of Genova), is co‑organizing the 2026 Summer School “Counter‑Dictionaries of the Border: An Introduction to Critical Border Studies.”
The programme will take place in Lampedusa from 27 September to 2 October 2026, bringing students, doctoral researchers, and practitioners into one of the Mediterranean’s key sites of unequal mobility.
The residential school combines morning lectures, afternoon ethnographic fieldwork on land and at sea, and evening debates with local associations. Participants will explore how borders operate as systems that “regenerate inequalities through the management of waiting, control, and the economies of pushback.”
Boat-based observation around Lampedusa will offer an embodied understanding of mobility (in)justice and the coexistence of mass tourism and border enforcement.
How to apply
All interested applicants must send their application by the 7th of July 2026 through the following form: https://summerschoollampedusa2026.vado.li/
