A Scientific Initiative on/for Border Abolitionism

Solroutes Upcoming Presentation at Mondi Migranti 2025

Vogliamo braccia, ma arrivano persone – Come cambia l’immigrazione al tempo del sovranismo
(We want arms, but people arrive – How immigration is changing in the age of sovereignism)

We’re excited to share that Rassa Ghaffari, a researcher with the SolRoutes project, will be presenting an excerpt from her latest research at this year’s Mondi Migranti conference in Milan.

“‘Ain’t I a Woman?’ Iranian and Afghan Women’s Underground Solidarity Networks and Practices Along the Balkan Route”

In this compelling paper, Ghaffari explores the underground solidarity strategies developed by Iranian and Afghan women on the move in Greece. Her work sheds light on the resilience and mutual support systems that emerge in the face of displacement and border violence.

This presentation draws on her ongoing ethnographic fieldwork in Lesvos, with further research planned in Samos this June.

Stay tuned for more updates from the field and insights from the conference!
