A Scientific Initiative on/for Border Abolitionism

Solroutes Interview on RTVC – Canary Islands Radio and Television

Migration is like water; if one route is blocked, another will emerge. The key issue is to open up possibilities for accessing visas. In the Central Mediterranean, migration policies fail to guarantee even the most basic human rights. Policies like those implemented by Meloni involve deals with dictators, leading to deportations, massive human rights violations, and human trafficking.

The Solroutes project has extended its efforts to countries such as Mauritania, Morocco, Gambia, and Senegal. One of the primary causes of migration along the Atlantic Route is the crisis in artisanal fishing and the exploitation by multinational corporations. Thousands of people have no access to visas, despite the right to free movement being guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Across all these migratory flows, there remains a critical need for legal and safe pathways for migrants.
